The Power of Asking

Open Sesame! These magic words worked well to open magical doors for Ali-Baba and his forty thieves- and quite a few other doors throughout the storybook world. This power is endowed through our words- what we speak and when we speak help us in our everyday lives. These words flow from us and can form questions that we want answered (often NEED answered). What you must understand though is that it is not always what we ask, but what we don't ask that affects us the most.

Ask the important questions

Unless you are endowed with all the knowledge of the world, at some point even the most powerful of intellectuals will be baffled. Questions must be asked, and like an old teacher once said- there are no stupid questions. But- time is of the essence, we must ask what we need to know to continue on our journey into the passages of life. Sometimes all we have is time to ask one question, and you must consider your words carefully. You must consider, above all else, what you need answered. Asking several questions that culminate into your needed answer can prove frustrating to any teacher, and it can waste time (money!). Focus on what you need answered- and ask the question that equals that.

How it helps your business

Questions offer us the opportunity to learn new advantages within the business world. Resources (treasure!) cannot be found without guidance. In order to find these great things, you must find the answers that lead you there. Consider "opportunities" to be your passageways through the business world. It will be difficult to navigate through the dark, and questions light the way to your success. Don't be afraid of the word "no" because it is simply a passageway that does not lead you to your treasure. When you find the "yes's" of the business world, you will find your treasure (success).

The magic words

Knowing that you must ask questions is considerably different from knowing the questions you must ask. If Ali-Baba had said "Bananas" instead of the magic words, would the doorway have opened? Surely not, because the right words were the only key to unlocking the truth. You must understand how important it is to use the right words to generate questions. How you ask, and your etiquette play an important role in your success. These "magic words" get answers that are generally more effective- and possibly more opportune. As a successful business person, you must understand the importance of your words and what influence they have on others.

Truth

As answers and helpful hints can vary amongst teachers, you always need to decide what is right for yourself. Business questions that relate to technique should always be considered with an open mind- but still remain open as no single technique can acquire all power. Be a student of many studies. Ask questions of many teachers and learn many truths to form one- success. Questions are doors and windows into the truth, but they are things you can only discover by asking with the correct words.
